(1a) GPet 28-33 (=7-8)
/28/ When the scholars and the Pharisees and the priests had gathered together, and when they heard that all the people were moaning and beating their breasts, and saying "If his death has produced these overwhelming signs, he must have been entirely innocent!" /29/ they became frightened and went to Pilate and begged him, /30/ "Give us soldiers so that <we> may guard his tomb for three [days], in case his disciples come and steal his body and the people assume that he is risen from the dead and do us harm." /31/ So Pilate gave them the centurion Petronius with soldiers to guard the tomb. And elders and scholars went with them to the tomb. /32/ And all who were there <with> the centurion and the soldiers helped roll a large stone against the entrance to the tomb. /33/ And they put seven seals on it. Then they pitched a tent there and kept watch. [Complete Gospels]
(1b) Matt 27:62-66
/27:62/ The next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate /63/ and said, "Sir, we remember what that impostor said while he was still alive, 'After three days I will rise again.' /64/ Therefore command the tomb to be made secure until the third day; otherwise his disciples may go and steal him away, and tell the people, 'He has been raised from the dead,' and the last deception would be worse than the first." /65/ Pilate said to them, "You have a guard of soldiers; go, make it as secure as you can." /66/ So they went with the guard and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone.
